Basic Hydraulics

You may initiate the course on any Monday, subject to the availability of workshops.

Understanding the principals of hydraulics. Being able to read and understand the schematic diagrams. Constructing a circuit correctly and setting the required pressures. Fault finding techniques and components identification.

Hydraulic fitter.

Basic understanding or background of hydraulic systems and machines.

The participant will be able to:

  • State the differences between hydraulics and pneumatics, the functions of hydraulic oil, the factors that can influence a hydraulic system and the basic components of a hydraulic circuit and their functions.
  • Test and determine the volumetric efficiency of the hydraulic pump, state the types of pumps commonly used in hydraulics and the difference between a variable and fixed displacement pump.
  • Indicate flow when operating different components.
  • Construct the circuit according to the schematic diagram, adjust the pressure relief and indicate the correct flow.
  • State the six rules for determining the length of a hose and the functions of an adaptor.
  • Record the fluid flow at specified increments and determine which components are faulty. State the seven basic steps for trouble shooting.

Basic Pneumatics

Understanding the principals of pneumatics. Being able to read and understand the schematic diagrams. Constructing a circuit correctly and setting the required pressures. Basic fault-finding techniques and components identification.

Pneumatic fitter / fitter.

Basic understanding or background of pneumatics.

The participant will be able to:

  • State the two most important factors to consider when working with a pneumatic system. State the five basic components and their functions and the daily maintenance which must be done on the receiver.
  • Construct a circuit controlling the speed of a single acting cylinder.
  • Construct a circuit controlled from two different points.
  • Design and construct a circuit so that a double acting cylinder piston rod will extend fully after operating a push button and, after extended to its maximum, automatically return to its original position.

Basic Rigging

  • Use different Slinging methods.
  • Lift and move a heavy load using different techniques.
  • Inspect and use ladders safely.

Fault Finding Hydraulics

Fault Finding Pneumatics

Refreshing the basic knowledge of pneumatics and explaining the fault-finding process and components identification. Understanding the principals of pneumatics. Being able to read and understand the schematic diagrams. Constructing a circuit correctly and setting the required pressures.

The participant will be able to:

  • Identify safety procedures and steps.
  • Read and build pneumatic circuit.
  • Fault finding using different methodology.
  • Compressor inspections.
  • Identify and replace defective hoses and couplings.

Fitter and Turner Theory Refresher Course

Duration

2 Days

Class Schedule

You may initiate the course on any Monday, subject to the availability of workshops.

Refresh the knowledge of the Fitter and Turner regarding the general machining practice. This includes material and cutting processes appropriate to them.

Qualified Fitter and Turner working in a Machine Shop.

  • Identify machining faults related to feed and speed settings.

Safe Lifting Orientation
