Qualification Purpose:
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to:
- Fabricate metal parts, fit, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and machines.
- A qualified learner will be able to: Apply hand skills to fabricate mechanical components using engineering tools.
Entry Level Requirements:
NQF Level 1 (Grade 9) qualification with Mathematics and Science
Skills Obtained:
The primary focus of this qualification is to develop the ability to produce components of some complexity using a variety of machining methods and the ability to fault find, dismantle, maintain, repair, and install complex mechanical assemblies and diagnose and repair equipment and machinery during production/operation. Hand skills play a large role in this qualification.

Off the job practical training
Phase 1 : Duration – 12 Weeks

Phase 4 – Duration – 4 Weeks (Revision and Trade Test)

12 to 18 months
