Qualification Purpose:
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to be able to:
- Fit, maintain and repair sub-assemblies and machines.
Entry Level Requirements:
NQF Level 1 qualification with Mathematics
Skills Obtained:
The primary focus of this curriculum is to develop the ability to repair and install complex mechanical assemblies and diagnose and repair equipment and machinery during production/operation.

- Entrepreneur / Contractor
- As a Fitter in any of the industries listed
Industry work opportunities:
- Mining
- Manufacturing
- Anywhere fixed plant is used and needs to be maintained
Approximate Trade Duration:
Off the job practical training
Phase 1 : Duration – 12 Weeks
Phase 2 – Duration – 12 Weeks
Phase 3 – Duration – 8 Weeks
Phase 4 – Duration – 4 Weeks (Revision and Trade Test)
Workplace (on the job) experience
12 to 18 months
